In the past, the
usual remedies for unwanted hair were plucking, shaving, waxing, or
chemical depilatories. They are inconvenient, painful, some are messy,
and all are only temporary. Increasingly, men and women of all ages are
turning to a more effective solution, at California Cosmetic Laser
Clinic we offer the latest technology available -
Light Sheer Diode
Laser System, from Lumenis. The Light Sheer diode laser is a state
of the art system specifically designed to remove unwanted hair faster,
with less discomfort and more reliably than any other method and it
permanently reduces your unwanted hair.
Does skin color
make a difference in the results?
Light Sheer has
the flexibility to provide a customized treatment. Also, the Light Sheer
laser is the only laser that can safely treat a broader range of skin
tones including patient with darker complexions. However, patients with
fair skin respond the best. The unique component of the Lumenis Light
Sheer laser, the actively cooled sapphire hand piece was designed to
conduct heat away from the skin before, during and after each pulse.
This cools the skin and protects it from injury.

What are the treatments like?
The Light Sheer
lasers system delivers light energy in a non-invasive manner to hundreds
of hair follicles, this affects the root and reduces re-growth. Also it
contains a cold hand piece, which reduces any discomfort during the
treatment. The laser treatment may last a few minutes to an hour or
more, depending on the size of the area being treated. We can help
remove hair from all parts of the body including cheeks, legs, arms,
underarms, and back.
Are treatments
painful?
Some
patients experience a mild sting or pinch. It can feel like a small snap
of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required,
however, a topical anesthesia cream may be applied to the skin half an
hour prior to treatment to minimize any pain.
How many treatments are required?
More than one
treatment may be necessary depending on the area you wish to have
treated. Some factors include hair density, and your own hair’s growth
cycle. Age, diet, ethnicity, weight, hormones, medication, and
metabolism all may effect your hair growth thickness, and resilience.
Are there any side effects?
Short -term side
effects may include redness and swelling around the hair follicle,
which indicates that, the hair follicle has responded to the treatment.
Most people return to normal activity directly after the procedure. Side
effects disappear within hours of treatment.
Are there any precautions or
restrictions after treatment?
After treatment,
you may return to normal activities. You may be advised to use a
formulated skin care product after your laser treatment. Sunscreen must
be used on any treated areas exposed to the sun. Limiting sun exposure
is best.
How should I
prepare for my treatment?

You may shave the
day before. It is not recommended that you wax of pluck hair prior to
treatment. Although having done so will not mean you cannot have a laser
hair reduction treatment, best results are obtained if you don't. Once
your treatment series has begun, we urge you to completely stop both
waxing and plucking.
